National Health Insurance Service(NHIS) Now Compulsory for International Students(March 2021 ~)

From March 2021, all international students who stay in Korea for six months or longer must sign up for a compulsory social insurance, NHIS(National Health Insurance Service), by Korean law. NHIS provides a wide range of coverage for various injuries and illnesses. Furthermore, instead of getting reimbursed afterwards, patients can pay the discounted amount from the start at the medical institutions.
